Zephyrix07 --> Not a breeze.. But a Tornado!!!

We had been waiting for this for a long long time. The symposium season had begun in most of the colleges and we, the CSE dept had planned to make it large this time!!! And the ironical fact was that we were the last department to get started with the symposium work because of the simple reason that we were the last in our department to conduct symposiums. This was the talk for the past week or so.. ECE department Utkrishta 07 had broken the previous Sairam record of 206 participants which was held by the CSE dept some 2 yrs back by amassing 305 participants. But then, this record dint seem to last too long as the EEE dept Xantella 07 broke that record within the space of 2 days by accounting for around 350 participants. Apart from these 2 departments, the other departments dint fare much as the mech dept totalled around 100, IT dept around 250 and ICE dept with a miserable tally of 70 students. So... Finally it was the biggest day for us.. What will happen?? Will we be able to retain our top spot by beating the EEE dept?? There was enough confidence in us that we would total atleast 500 students but we wernt that confident to reach that milestone. So.. The stage was set for what was going to be the biggest day in the history of Sairam... No one expected this..

It was a hot saturday... We were undergoing a strenuous week b4 that saturday as all events' preparations were in full swing.. The 10 events which were Paper Presentation, Software Presentation, Quiz, Dumb-C, Adzap, Web-designing, Debugging, Programming, Gaming and Informalz.. We were working on this for days together.. And the important part of the day, the Presentation being taken care of by Kudi, Mahesh, Prof, Ragaa and SPB was expected to be a good one as this was supposed to be the last presentation to be done by them.. So, they were sure of making it big this time.. They were working for it day and night( day and night here means the night before the symposium and the day of the symposium).. This is the usual way in which they do it.. Always at the eleventh hour and always get lauded for their work.. So... Romba izhukkudho??? Well.. Will make it a bit shorter...
When we entered the college, there were already around 250 students getting registered for the events. So, we thought that was the end... EEE had tallied more than us.. But that was not to be... It was the beginning of the greatest day... The Presentation was the best they had done and rightly so, was applauded and cheered by every soul in the crowd.. Suddenly at around 10pm, the Gaming and web-designing labs were being flooded with participants.. And slowly, next in line was the debugging event which got its regular crowd and slowly started to flood as well... Then, the quizzing and then the programming team.. All were getting buzzed up with work and the events were starting to attract more and more crowd.. Meself being in the dumb-c commitee was meanwhile looking around for some groups who may be interested in dumb-c and adzap... No sign of anyone yet.. Oh.. I thought... Was it gonna flop?? No was the answer...
At around 10.30am, a group came in which gave me a huge sigh of relief... And slowly but steadily, all the event co-ordinators were being kept busy by the participants... We received a total of 49 teams ie 147 participants.. Adzap received 23 teams ie a total of around 120 participants.. Quiz 250, Debugging 300 and gaming around 250 participants... And at around 11.30am we came to know that the official count of our symposium was exceeding 600 students and there were many more participants arriving in the buses... So, finally, all prelims were over at around 1pm.. Back-Breaking work for all event co-ordinators who did so with atmost glee and satisfaction... And by the time we started the finals, we received the information that the total count for our symposium was 822... And the rest of what happened is History!!! The finals of all events ended at around 4.30pm... Yoyo, the Big Fm RJ then conducted some sort of RJ hunt which was welcomed by the crowd... Then, after the customary mokkais from the big guns of our colleges which incidentally includes the HOD mam's speech which was unusually long(as well as sentimental), it all ended at around 7.15pm... We caught the last bus where we encountered sum minor hiccups with the driver... Not to 4get the photo session that we had with our dear HOD mam... Finally, after having sum juice and snacks, we started back to our homes with our hearts full of... (No.. Not food... But ultimate happiness and satisfaction)... We had made it!!! Zephyrix 07 ---> The biggest hit of 2007!!! Enga getha niroobichitomla!!! LIC heightu CSE dhaan weightu!!!!!!! ECE chairman Arvind's words after i informed him about our success " Machi!! Naanum CSE la irundhrukanum da".. This statement in itself proved the might of the CSE dept.. So, our final symposium ended in d most grand manner... So... ALL WAS WELL!!! All was extraordinarily well indeed!!! So, Zephyrix meaning a Cool breeze came out to be the most terrific tornado and swept all depts by its might!!! Thanks to all those who made this happen!!!

Tough day at the office!!!

It was a back-breaking day today that too with a back which was already sore, I did the biggest mistake of using my bike to go to the place where we enjoy the most. Symposiums... This was a day where whatever we touched turned gold. Whichever event we took part in, we qualified for the finals easily.. Although, we had to toil like never before to get into that online treasure hunt finals.. Then, there was this usual clash of events and eventually we participated in all events and did some justice to our class by winning all events although we were a bit disappointed with the prize money that was offered. Think this might well be our last symposium for this sem. So glad that we ended it on a winning note.

Seminar time...

The 7th semester is fast drawing curtains and the classes are being rushed up in order to complete the portions on time. But since most of the lecturers couldnt able to complete the portions on time, they have resorted to this new technique called Seminars. Almost all the lecturers are now making it a habit to ask a group of students to take a seminar on the topic that they give.. This is one of those stupid methods of teaching because it is the duty of the teacher to teach the stuff to students.. What happens here is that when a student takes a seminar, the other students generally dont tend to pay attention to what he/she teaches and it becomes a big joke after all.. I feel that this actually is sheer time waste and needs to be given an overlook. I am largely against this seminar sessions just because of the simple reason that I have also been assigned a seminar on friday and I dont know a shit about that subject called OOAD and even the staff doesnt know... So, lets hope this stops and also hope I get through these damn 7th sem subjects in the semester exams..

Gloomy day...

Today was one gloomy day... I could have gone to panimalar when my friends samba and mahesh called me up but I refused fearing the consequences that the absence of the 4 of us may lead to.. So, went to college today.. But I realised in the lab session itself that I was wrong.. Boring practical classes and even more tiresome theory sessions were the order of the day.. I was sleeping almost the 4 hours of the theory session.. Only thing that makes me happy today was that our boys won 1st place in adzap in panimalar, a whopping 5k.. And also our junior SPB won 3rd in banner designing.. So, hope tomorrow isnt much gloomier...

Operation success!!

The project review was held today and to my surprise, it actually went on pretty smooth.. I actually did not expect this because I expected the terror to terrify us but did not turn up... Instead there were around 5-6 lecturers of CSE dept and i think they thought that our class was a staff room because all staffs just kept on coming and going in and out of the class... We were one of the last batches to finish our reviews... And I thought we did a decent job although we were cornered by the new staff who seems to know what she is asking unlike some others... So, a gud day... And hope tomorrow isnt much different... Want to go to panimalar tomorrow but low hopes... Lets hope... Hope is life!!!

Pradarshini - 07 --> Part 2...

Saturday morning.. Me was getting ready for St.josephs to bag some more as there were 3 symposiums there. MCA, Mech and ECE.. But I wasnt in a mood to go to st.josephs but due to Mahesh insisting me, I got ready. But boobu called me and told that we could participate only in ECE symposium and only dumbc was there in that symposium and the prize money was around 750 bucks... So, We decided to go to Pradarshini 07, the COLORFUL KMC culturals where we had already created some fans for ourselves by getting 2nd prize in Ad-zap.. I still couldnt find who the 2 gals were, who were waving from the crowd at me and raja... We were even more pleased bcoz of the fact that the SRM team shouted our college names when the judges asked who were gonna be awarded the 1st prize in Ad-zap.. So, this was Dumb-c time in KMC and both of our teams qualified for the finals easily without much fuss... In the finals, we were joined by 3 gals' team on the dias... The other 3 teams were, 2 teams from Ethiraj college for women(COLORFUL) and 1 more gals team from St.Josephs(Whoa!!!)... After some 5 gruelling rounds of dumbc, both of our teams were tied at first place... The tie-breaker was eventually won by our team. We beat Samba team by just 0.5secs... One of the ethiraj college teams was placed 3rd... The guys who conducted asked how we did this stuff at ease and we told them some of the ways that we do this.. They were astonished and asked us to try at IIT(???!!!??)... One of the gals team congratulated meself and samba... So, though the prize money was less, we had atleast become famous and stamped our authority as one of the best Dumb-c teams in TN... This statement was eventually said by Bala... So, a gud day came to an end with the variety show... The 3 teams which eventually rocked were Crescent, SRM and Pachayappas... So, dunno who won it.. Cos we dint stay till the end... But, as usual, was a pretty much COLORFUL day indeed!!! Pradarshini 07 rocked!!!

Jet Sigma-->Its Different!!!

We had just won the Dumb-c in jet sigma, the math symposium in St.Josephs... The feeling was absolutely great!!! Because we had won in a QUALITY Dumb-c competition after a long time... We are thankful to the staffs for allowing us into the finals though we were very late for the event.. And the 3 rounds were simply amazing and wasnt just the usual Miming and guessing but also involved the use of our usually IDLEBRAINS... 1st Round: 2 questions with 4 choices each in which 2 choices are right and the other 2 arent... The mimer has to choose the 2 right answers for each questions and that makes it a total of 4 words to mime.. He has to mime those 4 words and if indeed they are the right answers, then 5 points to each right answer... Both of our teams performed better than the others in this round..
2nd round: In the second round came the interesting part... 12 videos in which each video contains the mathematical words which are mimed out by the College guys itself.. We have to guess the words correctly.. Another test for our Brains.. We did well in this round too.. Final round: We get 4 words to find and after finding all 4, we have to find a wonder hidden in those 4 words... This was also a very different round... Overall, it rocked!!! With Samba+MAhesh+Raja finishing 1st winning Rs.2100 and meself+Babbu+Boobu finishing 2nd winning Rs.1500... The staffs were really amazed at the way we found the words and lauded us and also thanked us... Overall, a perfect symposium and hats off to the Maths dept and those of whom worked for this....

P'darshini Totally Rocked!!!

Well.. This title is just to confuse the readers at the start... Cos there is a Priyadarshini a.k.a Diamondbabu a.k.a If-else in our dept who happens to be a gud friend of mine... But, this caption really doesnt mean that... Well... This is actually PRADARSHINI 07--> The KMC culturals... Which we happened to attend today... Today we had justa one event and that was Adzap.. This was a test for our talents... As, there were around 15 very good teams cos this was a culturals in which all streams are allowed... Engg, Arts and medical... So, it was gonna be a tough job for us... And the main reason why I said Pradarshini rocked was not because we did well in Ad-zap but bcoz of the amazing Colors that we happened to encounter!!! I hope what u think when i said color.. Color means super color!!! And coming to the ending!! We won 2nd place in Ad-zap bcos of that Judge, Yoyo... Ponnungalukku prize kuduthutan... Although we expected this... Cos, we thought We were the Best today... So... The positives of the Day were, Pradarshini colors and 2nd prize in Ad-zap...

Happenings around me...

Its been a while since I whiled away time rather than listening in class. Atleast I was understanding sumthing in class rather than nothing.. And, today it all ended, courtesy: Babbu who got hold of this game called BINGO... And after lunch, we had started playing it with such interests.. Meself, kudi(Bloody), Raja and Dhadi were playing in one bench. While Babbu, sano, Samba and Mahesh were playing in the other... So, the game was so absorbing that we completely lost our thoughts that a class was going on after all... We started playing it by 12.30pm IST and played the whole of TQM hour amidst getting scoldings from the lecturer then continued the same in the next C# hour... At around 1.45pm, terror struck when the ever enthusiastic Samba was caught playing the game.. Instantly, the whole bench was caught. Kudi loose enna pannaannu therla, he was also caught and bcoz of Babbu meself and Raja were also caught... Dhadi was the only one who escaped... Bcoz we dint pottu kuduthufy him just like him... After that whatever happened was complete terror!!! To be continued...

The 2 musketeers...

I hope you all must have heard of the 3 musketeers... Well.. This post is on the 2 musketeers in our group... Well... U cant guess it that easily... Bcoz, they are the 2 intellects in our group.. No.. It isnt mahesh or babbu or raja... Shit!! Never Samba... Well.. They are Prasi and Kavin of course... When i thought of writing a general post, the first thing that striked me was these 2 galz... Bcoz of d simple reason that i had just visited kudi's blog.. So, I thought of kalaasifying them, for a change.. in ma blog... Well.. to start with, these are 2 most comical characters in our group.. especially Kapathu... Her ultimate facial reactions always carries everyone into peals or fits or wtever maximum length of Laughter... U can check out her reactions at www.sathukudi.blogspot.com... She is like a baby in our group.. Edhuvume theriyadhu aana ellathukkum sirichitte iruppa... Always on the receiving end of Samba and Mahesh's vicious blows... Next in line is prasi... Well... She is one of my teasing victims... Bcoz iva seyyara velai ellam adhu maaridhaan irukkum... For eg: If u buy 10 chocolates, u will find the first 6 and the last 4 chocolates in her mouth... And same thing stands for the chips and snacks too... She is the first to gobble it up.. Ennavo, kudi birthdayla mattum romba kammiya dhaan saapta... Ivala kalaasitte irundha time poradhe theriyadhu... Friends of prasi... Try this... U can enjoy to d core when she is there... So, these 2 musketeers have recently made the birthday blasts even more hilarious... Never to forget the incident in babbu's b'day when kavin broke the candle into 2 by just using her single finger.. Lack of OD's costing dearly...

This semester has been one of the driest symposium seasons that we have ever had.. Last year, we were on a roll in all colleges... And we were rocking in all departments symposiums in all colleges... We kept winning in Adzap, Dumbc and Quiz... And We also did that with the help of a lot of OD's given by our HOD... But, due to sum reasons, we arent getting the OD's that we expected to get... In fact we have stopped getting OD's after attending just 4 colleges.. But can anything stop us?? No... This time, we are risking our engg by attending all colleges on leave... A leave costs us Rs.25 but v arent much bothered... But, the problem is that we arent getting theamount tht we usually get.. So, atleast i hope tmrw we get sum cash in our pockets in Eupraxia07 which was our biggest money spinner last year...

The End!!!

The Day of Happiness!!!

It was a beautiful saturday morning... I had already started the rumour on monday that results were to be announced on saturday, thanks to Mr.Atchuth who gave the information. But least expecting the results to come that saturday, myself, mahesh, sadesh and others decided to play cards(UNO) on that day at sadesh's room. So, i left to sadesh's room by 11.30 and reached there by 12... Mahesh, sadesh and boobu were there... We were joined by kudi shortly... Then, we started the game... We played about 10 games, and i was in a terror form... Dint lose a single match while the others took turns in losing the match.. It was at that time that babbu and sid messaged that results were out... We all jolted twice... Then, we continued playing the game... But i started to olarify while playing with dialogues such as, " Machi!! Naan uno la win pannitte irukken da... But results la out aaiduvennu nenakren..." After playing for some time and after encountering many calls and smses.. We decided to start to mala bhavan to have our lunch... At that time, babbu called upon my mobile and gave me a huge surprise that myself, himself and mahesh had cleared all papers... I heaved a great sigh of relief... After that after a series of unfortunate results, i stayed there till 6.30pm and then meself and raja started and reached home... A very very satisfactory day indeed!!!

Fare Well Day ---> A day of mixed emotions...

It was farewell day... One of the much awaited days for us 3rd years to bid a warm and happy farewell to our lovable seniors.. The preparations were on from even a fortnight before with both the guyz and galz working in full swing in tandem while the author was busy with cricket and other all unimportant activities(Sorry for tht).. A beautiful invitation Siragugal 07 stands testimony to the great success of the farewell day function.. It was a day when each and everything touched turned gold... There was the absence of the customary mokkai vaangudhal of events,... All seniors thoroughly enjoyed the events with great enthusiasm...

The day started with the customary mokkai oops... This time it was short though(15 minutes only).. by our principal.. Compereing was done one final time by Peter... The customary speech by our own friends.. With mixed emotions obviously.. Sorry couldnt remember who all spoke.. Kavin, Mahesh, Prasi, Venkat, Deepa and thats it i think...Poor memory... Our own HOD madam(Godmother) spoke a few words which was also not as nonchalant as it would usually be...Maybe a tiny twitch somewhere in the heart for having gonna miss our seniors...She also told about some role models that we hav to follow like Venkat, Suraj, Kailash, Vijay Babu etc...Thn there was the bharatnatyam dance performance by Ramya.. I think that was one energetic dance performance cos she danced to some really fast paced music unlike the usual thakita thaka thimi... Enough of the morning events... Cos i couldnt remember any more..

I dunno much about what happened in the thanks giving ceremony bcos we were busy in practising for er... er.. Counter strike...But the galz were working very hard in the lab..

The most awaited session was the evening session and it turned out to be the toast of the day.. The evening events were compered by Kavin(please sir).. It was supposed to be a peter free evening.. And i think she tried hard to stick on to it but in vain..Thts ok.. Starting with the superb fusion dance performance by our senior galz... I dont know some of their names... I think some of the akkas who danced were Manjusha, Vyjayanthi, Vino chandrika, Divya keerthi, Ramya(again but western this time.. All rounder pola!!), Archana, Rajeshwari and Dhivya Teja Swaroop...
The songs and their dance literally made the audience to dance and whistle as well..

After that scintillating dance performance, there was this group singing performance done by gaja, ragavendran and bala(2nd year).. This group of 3 sang the june ponal song so well that even the audience started singing along with them... Dint miss a single note and the relaxed way of singing stole everyone's hearts..




Then, came another rocking dance performance headed by Kudi... Kudi, bala(2nd yr), Shamshad and another guy(sorry da.. I dunno ur name) put the dance floors on fire with their hip hop rocking dance numbers.. This was followed by the much awaited Comp Sci Star Awards..This event was a collective effort of our dept 3rd yr galz headed by yakka... I cannot name all those involved as it is a looong looong list.. U can call the team as padips team in short...And it turned out to be a big hit amongst the seniors.. The list of awards and their winners are as follows:

And that was it for the Awards function.. This was i think the one thing that made our dept farewell stand apart from other farewell... Good idea by our dept padips team... This event was followed by our Variety show which was given a huge build-up by Kavin..
This was by far, our shortest performance...
But I hope the audience liked it.. Commendable acting by samba and boobu and the evergreen voice of our thala mahesh got us through the event.. Everyone did their part well apart from some minor flaws... Then, this was followed by the Games show conducted by the galz team again... Another interesting event... This event was swept out and out by the guyz... Some notable winners including Senthil Boopathy(smooch stamp), Sudharshan(Butt Baloon Blasting), Bright Kumar and some more..


The game show was interrupted by the Damn Disciplinarian Dhadha Balu along with the duck vaayan... The games event was cut short much to the dismay of the creators and the audience..
Then, Venkat and co sang the customary Musthafa song which stands as a token of friendship.. Although it started dully, it gained the emotions of all audience and suddenly the whole auditorium was singing and clapping.. Even the author was singing involvedly... That was the end of the Farewell ceremony with only the dinner to follow... And there was this farewell mood that had caught up with seniors who were taking group photos... Some were happily bidding good bye while some were parting with tears...

Dinner comprised of Chola puri, Gulab jamun, Veg Briyani, Smbar sadham(yuck!!!), Curd rice and naarthanga pickle on the vegetarian side... On the NV side, it was the life of 85 hens all the way... Chicken 65, Chicken gravy and so on... Then, the ice cream and fruit salad( papaya salad actually) to end the day.. The author apart from eating also served(For the 1st time!!! Naanum velai seyyarena??)... Meanwhile, Godmother called the 3rd years and thanked us and also praised us that we were the best batch she ever had sfter 1999 and she began to talk about some sentiments for which our thala Mahesh felt too much and started shedding tears.. Dint even hav his dinner... Romba feel pannan...The author tried to console but in vain...Then, to avoid sentiments, he joined us in the serving committee... Oops!! I think i forgot something... Ya... It was the gift given to the seniors as a token of love and affection.. It was a collage comprising of all the photos of the seniors which would stay forever..
The author gives a commendable applause for the person/persons behind this idea... All seniors were very very very very happy with the gift.... Then the author boarded the Nanganallur bus in which there was semma koothu amidst dance and singing performance by our senior galz and our own kudi, raja and co...
After that the author boarded a M18 and was accompanied by good ol' seniors Aravind(Cute Couple award winner) and Prabhu.. A day to remember... Farewell day---> A day of mixed emotions...

Hi Guyz and Galz!!!

The MNM Experience:
We hav recently been attending many, many symposiums in the last few days and winning sum good amount too. Infact the last time we went to our college was on 4th i think... Leave alone the studying part, I wanna share some really bitter experiences in the symposium season..
The one college in which we had one of the worst experiences is likely to be shared with all...Thts y im publishing ths post after a long time... First we start with the Misrimal Navajee Munoth Jain Engg College shortly MNM in which we attended the Culturals!! The cultural was called as Rapture06.. The website promised arnd Rs.200000 worth prizes to be won...So we decided to try for some good money at rapture though my frnd frm MNM, Mr.Wiyoats warned me against it... We won first place in DumbC followed by my fellow mates who came second... We expected a sumptous amount... As i had some other work outside, myself and my frnd Mahesh left early... So my frnds Babbu, Boobu and Samba stayed back to get our prize... But to our surprise, we found that the prize was nothing but a Worthless shield which can be bought at Pondy Bazaar for arnd Rs.50...
Our next harrowing experience was at the same college... It was the IT department symposium and called as CALLIDA06... "GAALI"DA06 would have been a better name for this symposium... During registration, Bit Samba's frnd had the sponsorship brochure in which it was stated that the first prize was Rs.2000 , 2nd prize was Rs.1500 and the third prize was Rs.1000... So I made a rough calculation that we would be earning an amount of around Rs.9000 at the end of the day... We as usual did our DumbC well and this time the team of Samba & co got the first place and we got second... My two other friends Hatih and Dhaadi also got 3rd place in Web Designing.... But to our dismay, all we got was 50% of the cash what they had promised and some worthless and sucking Coupons.... We went and fought our level best with those fucking coordinators but to no avail...Finally, Samba tore those coupons and threw it straight onto the Coordinator's face and left... We were once again left embarrassed by the Fucking MNMites..... I think that MNM group is doing it as a timepass i.e. to make Big posters promising large amount and finally swallowing everything and givin us the leftovers... Im sorry for being a bit strong.. Innocent guys frm MNM,, this isnt for You... But im sorry to say this Misirimal Navajee Munoth Jain College Of Engg SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!

5th Seme(u)ster!!!

Our regular classes hav begun and its toooo booooring except for sum entertainment by the spirit squad headed by sambashiva(hero) who keep frustrating the so called lecturers during classes, the main victims being Bama madam and Jagan sir. There are as usual six subjects around us trying to disturb our Concentration.
Computer Networks:
It looks to be an interesting subject and v enjoy ths period thoroughly cos the lecturer doesnt take any classes but just brings a projecter and a sheet frm wch v hav to copy down evrythng. THE WRITING HERE IS ON THE WALL. And i think the projector contains sum innovative kinda speaker wch teaches those written cos she asks questions in the class without even teaching it. Or maybe i dont listen!!!
DBMS:
Here s a lecturer who started well and going a bit below par than what he had started as. But a good attempt by the lecturer to bring in everything into our minds.
Discrete Mathematics:
I hate maths but sumhow dm is going ok for me even though the lecturer doesnt impress too much with her teaching. Pass aaga Siru vaaipukkal iruku.
Theory of Computation:
What to say about this subject? Jagan sir is making a valiant attempt to teach the subject and it is seeming to be too understandable except tht sumtimes he talks sumthng wch v cant understand.
Microprocessor and Microcontroller:
Another lecturer who blahblahs in the class with his so called programs mokkais the class. Although many may like his teaching, i diverge on tht. He was the one who asked samba to get out of the class jus bcos he wasnt talking in the class. He is very helpful to boys.
Principles of Management:
I hope its another oc subject and the lecturer is an interactive guy who wants everypne to be interactive. He is a porikki outside but a gentleman inside the class-Self proclaim. He doesnt like those like bala who say ORU MAYIRUM ILLAI in class hours even though bala spoke the truth about his hair.
