Tremors in Chennai..

Yesterday it was a day when people in Chennai got into a panic because of tremors in their places. The meteorological department said in a news that some places around Chennai like Koyambedu, Kodambakkam and TNagar recorded tremors measuring upto 6.2 on the Richter scale. They also stated that this was because of the earthquake that shook the Andaman & Nicobar islands with the richter scale measuring around 6.7. So, this sudden tremor has shook the people but the department has asked the people not to panic or worry about this tremor.

Royal Challengers -> Royal Shit!!!

Anil Kumble has firmly backed Rahul Dravid, the captain of the Bangalore Royal Challengers, and said it was time "people who matter" understand what sports is all about. Kumble's statement comes in the wake of the comments made by Vijay Mallya, the liquor baron who owns the franchise, where he defended his decision to sack Charu Sharma, the CEO, and also said his biggest mistake was to trust Dravid on matters of team selection. "What's important though, is that at this time, you need all the support and backing you can get," Kumble wrote in his column for Hindustan Times. "You need the people around you, the people who matter, to understand what sport is all about, to realise that no one goes out there to lose.

Seminar time...

Its a hectic final year for us. The projects are hitting us from one end where as on the other end are the stupid lectures. All the classes are so very boring. We have finally decided on the project which is on query analyser. But the head ache is the seminars in mobile computing. The staff is so strict that the hour totally sucks. Each week, 3 students have to take seminar. Now, this is totally waste of time. We would rather study these subjects staying at home rather than attend these stupid lectures. So, Im praying that these come to an end soon.

Jallikattu

Inspite of the ban from the supreme court on the Jallikattu a.k.a Manjuvirattu, the people continued to conduct it in various parts of Tamilnadu. Also, the people in Alanganallur appealed over the issue and the supreme court finally gave in, by allowing them to conduct the age old sport but with tight security. In spite of that, many people were injured and quite a few lost their lives. So, the age old sport also ended the lives of age old and young men alike.

University of Texas

Ever since the GRE thing started looming large over the guys and girls in our class, there were many universities that people preferred to join. The University of Texas at Arlington is one such widely preferred university to do your MS. It is an educational leader in the heart of Dallas Fort-Worth metroplex. It was found in 1895 and is one of the best institutions in the US. Many of my college seniors have joined there and are having a really good time out there. But, the reason why I put this post now is that, our dear Chellam, Prasi has got an admit in the university. So, hearty congratulations to her. Cheers!!

Proteas pulverise Windies!!

The Proteas threw yet another stunning batting performance. Graeme Smith had score a century yesterday. Kallis today, further frustrated the Windies with a solid batting display. But this was not to end so soon. Prince and De Villiers joined hands after kallis was out, and they both put on a record stand as both batsmen reached their hundreds in style. While Prince' knock was a sedate one, De Villiers' was a quickfire one. So, the windies now face an uphill task ahead of them.

Theni!!! Here we come!!!

Finally, as we planned, we are going to celebrate this Pongal in Theni. It is one of the places that I had been longing to visit as I have never got any chance to roam through any villages, or even visit them. Its really cool to see the beautiful sceneries in the place. We are leaving on 13th and are staying in Arun's place for 3 days and returning back on 17th. Its really going to be a great trip as Madurai has always been famous for Jallikattu. Though it has been banned, I really hope this iusn't banned in the village of Veerapaandi in Theni. Mahesh, Raja, Sano, Samba and Me are going as Babbu dog pulled out in the last minute. Hope we have a gud time there.

Time to recuperate..

After a week of complete havoc in the test series between India and Australia, with the poor umpiring and bad sportsmanship shown by the Australian players and the ban on Harbhajan singh and, everything is finally coming to an end slowly. Bhajji has been cleared to play in the 3rd test at Perth and also Bucknor's removal from the series has symbolised the victory of the Indian cricket team. So, now is the time to recuperate and get back to business. Tomorrow is the tour match against a local team in Canberra. Sachin, Sourav and Kumble have been rested. So, the bowlers need to get back some rhythm and get ready for the 3rd test at Perth.

Chak De India!!!

Looking surprised at the caption of the post?? He he.. I am not talking about the Indian cricket team but am talking about the film Chak De India. I got a chance to see the film now and really, I was just jumping when Vidhya Sharma stopped the final shot. Was so engrossed in the movie that I even forgot that it was after all a movie. Shahrukh was simply marvelous at Indian coach Kabir Khan and so were the other cast in the film. It pulverises every nerve of a true Indian and has made me a big fan of Women's hockey team. My congrats to the director for his amazing venture and different storyline. Huh!! Hope Indian cricket team watches this film tonite and play better cricket tomorrow.. ;)

CSE vs ICE match 3..

I preferred to sit out of this match cos I was feeling too stiff to continue bowling. We guys betted first and thanks to some good batting by Bajji and Barath, we reached a decent score of 90 in 12 overs. Ramesh and Raja bowled the first spell. Raja was a bit expensive in his first spell. Bowled too many extras. But, then, wickets kept tumbling at Ramesh's end and none o the batsmen except Hariharan could bat well for a few overs. But, hari, waging a lone battle led his team to within the brink of victory, when Subramanian running for Hari, got run out. So, suddenly the twsit of the tale and finally, we won the match by 4 runs. Raja bowled a brilliant final over to prove his class as a bowler. So, we won 90rs in total. Great day for us!!

CSE vs ICE match 2...

In the 2nd match, ICE won the toss and decided to field first. But after a team discussion, they reverted their decision and batted first. Again, Ramesh and I started the spell. This time, we bowled steadily with less extras and Ramesh started the proceedings by taking the first wickets. Then another wicket fell in the same over. Then, I got into the wickets column by taking 2 quick wickets in 2 balls. So, after 6 overs, they were left reeling at 15-4. Then, Kudi bowled an expensive over costing 15runs but he got the 2 important wickets. Raja, Manoj and Kudi bowled at a steady pace and line and length and finally they got bundled out for 56. All 5 bowlers took 2 wickets apiece. I took 4 catches in the match which made my day great!! As usual, we attained the target pretty easily.

CSE vs ICE...

We won the toss in the first match and elected to field first. Ramesh and I opened the bowling for our team and we raced to a great start picking wickets at regular intervals. We shared the honours by claiming 3 wickets each and after 6 overs, ICE were tottering at 20-6. Then, they recovered slightly, but, Manoj and Raja made sure that they dint score too much and so finally they were bowled out for a paltry 39. Our openers Boobu and Samba provided a solid start and we reached the target with ease with several overs remaining. So, we won the first match easily. Bowlers won the match.

Today's happenings.. Part 1

I woke up today morning at around 5.45am frowning because of the match against ICE that morning. I finished my daily routines and then switched my PC on and was astonished to find a handful of offers waiting for me. With the happiness that I have made quick money for the day, I set out to ground. Was caught up in a traffic jam because of an accident. I reached the ground at around 7.45am to find 4 guys from ICE playing. Then, waited for around 30mins for others to come. Finally, the match started at around 8.30am.

One day of my life( Yesterday) Part 7..

Having reached home and completing my dinner early, I then went to watch the new films, Billa and Kalloori that I had just burnt in Arul's house. Starting with Billa at around 7pm, I continued to watch the other film Kalloori too and both the films ended at around 11pm. Then I went online and chatted with some friends and finally called it quits for the day, at around 11.45pm cos I had a match the next day against ICE. So, slept off and immediately was in deep slumber.

One day of my life( Yesterday) Part 6..

Now, was the time for another 8 over a side match. This was the last match of the day cos it was getting a bit darker. Apart from the match, the day was made more interesting because of the tussle between Vinod and Dilip. They began to fight with each other because of a harsh umpiring decision by Vinod which left Dilip fuming. He lost his cool and suddenly, they began to fight like mad men. After the tussle was over, the match resumed. This match was comfortably won by our team and this came as a consolation win for us. After the match was over, so was the tussle between those 2 guys. They came back to normal and began talking again. I then, reached home at around 6.30pm

One day of my life( Yesterday) Part 5..

Then, it was time for our innings to start. We started pretty decently scoring at about 4 runs per over which was at that time sufficient enough. Although, I was wasting some balls trying for reverse sweeps, Aravind who was at the other end, kept the scoreboard ticking with his unorthodox shot making. Suddenly, I suffered from a small muscular twitch forbidding me from continuing to play. So, I chose to rest for some time, but, meanwhile, wickets began to fall and so making it difficult for us to get to the target. Then, I again came into bat and this time, I played better cricket dealing with 2's and 3's and suddenly we were in near vicinity of the target, thanks to some power hitting by suresh. I got out bowled on the leg side due to a poor concentration lapse. Sriram and Dilip got out in quick succession and suddenly, we were on the mats. Suresh tried till the end, but finally, we lost the match by 1 run. :(

One day of my life( Yesterday) Part 4..

The 15 over a side match started and so was the fierce competition. It was christmas day and Arvind who happens to be a christian had a stunning day on christmas eve. He was at his battering best and he continued to thrash all the bowlers with ultimate ease. We were consistently on the receiving end and this was coupled with some really awful fielding. So, it wasnt making things any better.. So, with Arvind being the main contributor, they scored at a good run rate and reached a pretty reasonable score in the end. But, it was absolutely gettable.

P.S. Arvind dint bring the plum cake as promised. But, he has vowed that he would bring one this sunday.

One day of my life( Yesterday) Part 3...

Having filled my bellies with those plum cakes, I set out at about 2.30pm to play cricket in railway ground tambaram. I reached the ground at around 3.15pm to find around 5 guys already waiting for the play to start. So, after Oi collected the stumps from sundar's house, we started to play an 8 over a side match because, there were only around 10 members present in the ground. So, the play started with those 10 members and we lost the first match after fighting closely. By then all the other members had arrived. So, we decided to start the next important match which was the 15 over a side match.
